What kind of personality did he develop living alone? Did he ever create imaginary friends? Or maybe make his own robotic friends? What were his hopes and dreams? What were his goals?

You Just Received a Velociraptor for Christmas

Prompt

Jimmy collects toy dinosaurs. So far, he has a toy T-Rex, Brontosaurus, and Triceratops.

This year, he asked Santa for a velociraptor.

On Christmas Eve, Jimmy waited patiently for his present to arrive. But the next morning, when he opened his present, it was only an egg.

Jimmy was confused. “This was supposed to be Christmas, not Easter.”

But then the egg began to shake and crack and suddenly a velociraptor hatched.

The elves had tried to warn Santa but in his defense, Jimmy had written “velociraptor, not “toy velociraptor.”

Now, Jimmy’s parents want to send the velociraptor back to the North Pole. However, Jimmy wants to keep him.

He’s already named him Vinnie the Velociraptor.

Your job is to convince Jimmy’s parent to let him keep Vinnie. Consider what a velociraptor might eat, what tricks you could teach him, where it might live, and how you would handle the potential dangers of owning this prehistoric pet.

In other words, make the case for why a velociraptor would make a great pet.

Invent a School for Ninjas

Prompt

You go to check the mail one day when an envelope pops out and folds itself into a ninja. It bounces around before landing on your shoulder, revealing an invitation to an elite school for ninjas.

Imagine that school.

What do the students wear? Is there a special uniform? Are the clothes be dark or light? What subjects does it have? What skills will you learn? And what will your teachers be like? What types of school supplies will you use? What special ninja gadgets will you get to try out? What is the building be like? Is it big or small? Is it located in the mountains? By an ocean? In the middle of a city? Or maybe underground? What cool ninja features does it offer?
What activities does the school offer? What kinds of ninja sports will you play? What are the rules at this school? How is it different from your own school?

Tell this story in the form of a diary entry . . . take that back. Ninjas keep journals, not diaries. Okay, tell this story in the form of a journal entry as a kid who just arrived to a ninja school.
