You need to design a sport that people can play together even when they are physically far apart. The goal is to create a high interest game that requires physical movement. What is the goal of your sport? How will you win? Will you have points or will it end when you reach a specific objective? Will it be timed? Will you have specific rounds? Will you take turns? How many players will you need? Will it be a team sport or an individual sport? Will your sport have positions? If so, what will each person do? What materials will you use? What items can you use from home? How will you blend together the physical environment with technology? What will the dimensions of the field or court be? Will you play it indoors or outdoors? Will it be loud or quiet? What will the rules be? What will you allow? What will be forbidden? And what are the consequences for a penalty? Now invent that sport. You must work collaboratively with 2-4 people at a distance using email, shared documents, chat, or video conferencing. Be sure to make your game inclusive so everyone can play. The goal is to create something that is both fun and active at the same time. Now go out and make something awesome!

What would the mascot be?
What would the building look like? How would the classrooms be designed?
How would you keep students safe?
Your job is to design this entire school and explain how it functions.

Design a Drone Delivery System

You work for a delivery company that uses drones to deliver packages to people.

Unfortunately, drones are getting stolen and broken and people are complaining about drones landing on private property.
Here’s the reality.
You can no longer fly the drones close to the ground.

Your mission is simple.
You need to figure out how to drop a package from at least 4 meters above the ground without breaking the items inside.

Will you using padding? If so, what kind?
What kind of container will you use? A box? A pyramid? A sphere?
How will you slow it down?
Perhaps a parachute?
If so, what shapes and sizes will you experiment with?

Your supplies will include cardboard, duct tape, plastic bags, straws, and string.

You need to develop a way to test your method for speed, accuracy, and the ability to keep fragile items from breaking.

Invent the Ultimate Roller Coaster

Prompt

You’re going to build the ultimate roller coaster. Okay, you’re not actually going to build a life-size roller coaster that you can ride. Apparently, there’s this thing called safety that schools have to follow. Bummer. But you are going to design and build a model of a roller coaster. It needs to be the kind of roller coaster someone would actually enjoy.

So, think about this ultimate roller coaster.

1. Consider your ideal audience. Will it be a gentler ride for younger kids or will it be a terrifying ride for adventure-seekers? How do you want people to feel? Do you want people to feel scared? Nervous? Excited? Calm? Maybe a mix of all of those emotions?
2. What kind of theme will it have? See, every roller coaster has a theme. It might be a mountain theme or a space theme or pop culture theme. So, create a theme for your roller coaster.
3. Decide on the features of your ride. Will it have a huge drop? A loop? A corkscrew turn?
4. Think of the physics and mechanics of your ride. How will you keep your coaster going from start to finish without stopping?

For your model, you’re going to use:
Duct tape
Paper
Cardboard
A marble
Plastic straws
Popsicle sticks

Don’t forget to experiment and make tons of glorious mistakes. Ultimately, your design is going to be awesome, because it’s yours and it’s coming from your creative mind.
